Due to the increasing number of human cases and a case of severe human illness in Louisiana, Gov. Newsome has declared a state of emergency in California:Bird flu state of emergency
Up-to-date information on bird flu in California can be found at the California Department of Public Health's Bird Flu web page: Current Bird Flu info
Because the bird flu virus is not known to be vectored (carried and transmitted) by mosquitoes, ticks, and other biting insects and arthropods (mites, spiders, scorpions), the response to the bird flu is lead by the CA Dept. of Public Health's (CDPH) Division of Communicable Disease and not the CDPH Vector-Borne Disease Section.
